The gist:

"Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles" is a television series on Fox that ostensibly takes place between the events of the feature films Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.  Once again, we have Sarah Connor (Headey, 300) trying to live her life incognito with her son John (Dekker, "Heroes"), now 15 years old, but another visitor from the future in the form of a Terminator cyborg has come back to put an end to John's life, as he is to be the leader of humanity's rebellion against the artificial intelligence that threatens our extinction.  As with previous entries, the John Connor of the future has sent back a protector Terminator cyborg, this time in the form of a teenage girl named  Cameron (Glau, Serenity).  Although the events ostensibly take place prior to those in the third movie, the series is set two years later, as the character time travel forward from 1999 to 2007, skipping over Sarah's losing struggle with cancer that supposedly ended her life.
