That Touch of Mink (1962)
That Touch of Mink casts Doris Day (Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, The Man Who Knew Too Much) as an old fashioned small town woman gets swept off her feet by a rich playboy (Grant, North by Northwest) who wants to take her away for a week of passion in Bermuda. The only question that remains is “Will she or won’t she?”
While not particularly memorable, it’s an amiable romantic comedy and extremely satisfying nonetheless. Grant and Day grace the production with their usual effortless charm, and the Oscar nominated screenplay sparkles with double entendres and witty dialogue. Perhaps the story falters a bit toward the last twenty minutes, but until then That Touch of Mink is a sheer delight. A must-see for fans of Grant and/or Day.
