The Full Monty (1997)
In Sheffield, England, the steel industry isn’t what it used to be, causing six now unemployed and out-of-shape British men to start their own exotic dance revue, a la Chippendale’s. Their big catch is that unlike the Chippendale dancers, they will show “the full monty”, or go completely nude.
As far as comedies go, this light British comedy fits the bill and more. Perhaps it isn’t quite as great a film as it’s Best Picture Academy Award nod would have you believe, but there is rarely a misstep or bad scene in this economical but immensely enjoyable romp. All of the actors are well-cast and very likable, and their boundless energy is infectious. Definitely well recommended for people in the mood for a feel good film without the hangovers.
