Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)
Elwood Blues gets out of jail and once again gets the old band together to head to Louisiana and enter a Battle of the Bands contest to save the orphanage. Along the way the group is pursued by the Russian Mafia, White extremists, and the police.
I had always wanted a sequel to the wonderful The Blues Brothers but seeing how bad it is I now hope I never see them again. BLUES BROTHERS 2000 is nothing less than a remake of the first, with the same plot, same characters they meet, identical situations, and even some of the same songs. This time around the music is fine, though not as memorable as that of the first film, but the comedy has taken a real down-slide into painfully unfunny depths. Only in the last few scenarios does the film finally show some signs of life, not coincidentally in it’s first forays into scenes not previously done in the first film, but it’s too little and too late.
